We have moved from downtown Georgetown to Tanjung Tokong, where Savannah (Helene's friend) lives. Today, we did nothing. Yesterday, Jeannot left with Emilien and Guillaume for Ko Phangan, in Thailand, to do some diving... The day before, wednesday the 23rd, must have been a full moon because it was Thaipusam. We went and walked with the crowd, in the heat, up to the temple and back. Women were dressed in their nicer saris (I imagine) and just that in itself was worth seeing. We saw a couple carrying the ends of a bunch of sugar canes, from which was hanging a bright yellow piece of cloth wrapping their baby. One could see they were extremely careful. A few men were carrying kavadis, one had hooks in the skin of his back and a friend pulling on it from behind. On the 22nd, a chariot went slowly through the town, creating traffic jams. On its way, big loud crowds breaking coconuts. I didn't see it personally but Helene did.
